A long sandy beach, very accessible for people and vehicles, great place for swimming and at the northern end of the beach, there is an aquatic reef reserve, suitable for snorkling. Fishing is also a pastime enjoyed by many, out in their tinnies to get a bite, or fishing from the beach. Kite flying is a pastime seen on the beach plus windsurfing and kitesurfing. -------------------------- Aldinga Reef![]() Aldinga Reef Aquatic ReserveAldinga reef aquatic reserve was estabilished in 1971 for the protection of equatic plants and animals associated with the large intertidal limestone reef and spectacular precipitous underwater cliff known as the drop off and the surrounding sandy substrate for the purpose of education and recreation. Aldinga Reef Aquatic Reserve consists of a large intertidal platform which extends approximately 500 metres offshore, and submerged reef complex which extends approximately 1200 metres offshore. it is a moderate wave energy coastline. The area is popular with scuba divers. The cliff and overhangs are extremely rich in marine life, particularly sponges and kelp plants. ................................ Aldinga Reef from solivagant7 Aldinga Beach is growing fast with several subdivision's being developed. It used to be just a small holiday shack town, but is now an outer surburb of Adelaide.Some long time residents do not like the fast expansion of the area and the ever increasing traffic. But, with the wonderful sea breezes the clean fresh air it's a great place to bring children up. Its about 45minutes by car from Adelaide. An important new service in Aldinga Beach is the GP Plus Health Care Centre on Saturday 1pm - 8pm and Sundays 10am - 6pm an after hours doctors service is available. The Sulphur-crested Cockatoo is a large white parrot. It has a dark-grey bill, a distinctive sulphur-yellow crest and yellow wash on the underside of the wings. Their diet consists of berries, seeds, nuts and roots. It also takes handouts from people.

----------------------------------- Aldinga Bay Surf Life Saving Club The Aldinga Bay Surf Life Saving Club is in full swing for its summer season with its main role of providing beach patrols on weekends and public holidays its top priority. The club junior members called Nippers are down the beach on Saturdays improving their water skills and generally having a good time. Members who are looking to improve their fitness are gearing up for up and coming carnivals where they will compete in the Surfboat rowing competitions culminating in the Surf Lifesaving State and National Titles to be held in March. The cemetary at the Medodist, now Uniting, Church has the mass grave for the eleven people who died aboard the Star of Greece which sank when it was driven ashore at Port Willunga during a gale in 1888. Sir Ivor Hele, who was an official war artist in both World War 11 and the Korean War and who won the Archibald Prize in !951, 1953, 1954, and 1957, lived in an old coaching inn situated on the corner of Little Road and Adey Road.
